Early Life
James Thomas Fallon was born in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York on September 19, 1974. Fallon studied in a Roman Catholic school named St. Mary of the Snow. He is the son of Gloria and James Fallon.
He was an altar boy in school and for a long time considered being a priest. Fallon grew beyond his religious ambition when he began getting more into comedy after listening to Dr.
Demento show on the radio. Jimmy Fallon became obsessed like many teenagers with Saturday Night Live. He with his sister acted out sketches from the show for parents and friends.
During four years of high school, he was a performer at Saugerties High School in most of the stage productions. And in 1992, he graduated from Saugerties High School. Fallon also studied in The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.
There he performed stand-up comedy on the weekends. When he was 21 years old, he left this college a semester before graduating in 1995 to move to Los Angeles to pursue a full time comedy career.
Career
Jimmy Fallon joined The Groundlings improv group in Los Angeles and kept polishing his standup act. He did stand-up often at thelegendary Improv, for which he was paid $7.50 a set, which didn’t even cover the parking cost at the Improv.
Jimmy Fallon gave audition for the first time for Saturday Night Live in 1997 but was rejected. At the age of 23, Fallon landed his second audition for SNL. SNL auditions were notoriously difficult and terrifying.
He was told at the audition by many of people that during auditions, creator Lorne Michaels pretty much never laughed. Jimmy Fallon went onstage and did well.
He performed a sketch on “celebrity walk-a-thon” with impressions of popular comedians including Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld. Michaels laughed.
He was hired for the 1998-1999 season as a cast member. Fallon became the most featured impressionist in the program.

Jimmy has revealed later that he actually couldn’t afford the purchase back in 2002, but he followed Lorne’s advice wisely. After he married Nancy Juvonen, they started purchasing neighboring units.
They paid $725,000 in 2014 for a top-floor studio apartment. The bought the nine-story, roughly 35-unit building in addition to a purchase of a one-bedroom apartment a few months earlier next door to the studio for $1.35 million.
They combined the units over time and converted to a massive six-bedroom, 5,000 square-foot apartment.
Their total cost on five apartments was $5.8 million. Jimmy and Nancy listed their massive apartment for $15 million in March 2021. The home sold in the next year to actress Cara Delevingne in a reported deal of $10.8 million.
Jimmy and his wife Nancy own a home in the Hamptons. It is located in Sagaponack, it’s a 3,500 square-foot farmhouse style home built in the 1800s. They purchased it for $5.7 million in 2011.
