Early Life and Education

Travis Landon Barker was born on November 14, 1975 in Fontana, California. He grew up in the family of his mother Gloria (Babysitter), his father Randy (Mechanic), and two older sisters.

His mother gave him a drum kit when he was just 4 years old. He started taking drum lessons the following year. In Junior high, he messed around with the piano, learned to play the trumpet, and even sang a choir.

Travis dreamed of being a skater or pro surfer, but soon he realized that drums were his jam for expressing himself.

Sadly, his mother died from Sjögren syndrome right before he went to high school. In the marching band and Jazz ensemble, Travis played drums and he was a self-proclaimed stoner.

Travis played in some bands named Snot and Feeble after he finished his high school. He joined the Aquabats later in 1996, a ska group started by his Feeble friend Chad Larson.

Travis did one album with the Aquabats, and they went on a tour with Blink-182. When Blink-182’s drummer left, Travis became permanent member of this band after filling his position in 1998.

In June 1999, Blink-182 released Travis first album named “Enema of the State”. The band rose to fame, thanks to hit albums like “All the Small Thins,” “What’s My Age Again?” and “Adam’s Song.”

“All the Small Things” got #1 position on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and #6 position on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2000, his music video won MTV Video Music Award. The band did an arena tour later in ’99, but Travis had to skip some dates because he broke his finger.

Travis Barker didn’t stop there. He released many albums with Blink-182 like “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” in 2001, “Blink-182” in 2003, “Neighborhoods” in 2011, “California” in 2016, and “Nine” in 2019, Rock on man!

Travis joined hands with Transplants in 2002, a cool rock/rap super group formed by Tim Armstrong from Rancid. Travis did four albums with them. He released his solo album in 2011 named “Give the Drummer Some.”

He didn’t stop there – He released many albums with other groups known as +44, TRV$D JAM, Expensive Taste, Box Car Racer, Yelawolf, Goldfinger, and more.

Travis Barker joined hands with MGK known as Machine Gun Kelly on “Tickets to My Downfall” album in 2020.

In 2022, he even produced eighth studio album for Machine Gun Kelly named “Mainstream Sellout”. Travis Barker surely loves making music with all sorts of awesome folks!

Back in 1999, Travis Barker got fashion with Famous Stars & Straps, his clothing line. In 2004, he even set up a record label known as LaSalle Records. Then, he wrote his life story in a book called “Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums.”

He isn’t just about music – You might have seen him in TV shows like “The Simpsons,” Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place,” and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and in movies like “American Pie”.

Personal Life

Travis got married to Melissa Kennedy in 2001, but they got divorced soon just 9 months later. Later on, he got married to Shanna Moakler who was Miss USA, on October 30, 2004. After first year, they had a son named Landon.

They also had a daughter named Alabama who born in December 2005. Shanna Moakler had a daughter already from Oscar De La Hoya.

All members of the band were on a famous reality show “Meet the Barkers,” which broadcasted 16 episodes in the year 2005 and 2006. But, sadly, Travis and Shanna left it in 2008.

Things got messy in 2014, when Travis and Shanna both arrested after the police showed up at their shared home.

Travis allegedly threatened Kill Moakler and Shanna threatened to beat Travis up by his boyfriend. Yikes, that’s tough time!

In February 2016, Travis Barker went to legal team and asked to reduce his child support from $19,000 to $2,900 per month. He gave a reason that his monthly earnings went down from $2 million dollars to $600,000.

In the legal papers, Travis mentioned that his net worth was around $40 million. In the money game, this is a big drop!

Travis got addicted to painkillers after his divorce with Shanna Moakler. But guess what? He overcame that addiction after surviving the plane crash. He became more health conscious after the plane crash.

He started running and swimming after leaving the hospital. Additionally, he started taking vegan diet. Since his teen years, he used to be a vegetarian, but he had to eat meat to help heal faster when he was in the hospital. Life is full of twists, right?

Check this out: Travis and Kourtney Kardashian started dating in January 2021. They got engaged on October 2021 and then married in Santa Barbara, California on May 15, 2022.

They had another ceremony, this time with a religious vibe, on May 22 in Portofino, Italy. And here is the latest scoop: They revealed in June 2023 that they are expecting their first child.

Plane Crash Incident

Things got really bad back on September 19, 2008. Travis Baker along with DJ AM named Adam Goldstein, his personal assistant Chris Baker, and his security guard Che Still were on a private plane taking off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina.

The plane crashed and exploded. Sadly, in this incident, his security guard Che Still and his personal assistant Chris Baker didn’t make it. Travis and DJ AM both were quickly taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia.

More than 65% of Travis body had burns. Can you believe it? He endured 27 surgeries and skin grafts over the next four months. Tough times, for sure.

After the plane crash, Travis refused to set his foot on any airplane for over a decade. So, whenever Blink-182 had to perform overseas, they had to find someone else to step in place for him.

When he finally took a flight again was 2021. Guess who was with him? Kourtney Kardashian. It took him 13 years to get back on a plane.

Real Estate

Let’s talk real estate! Travis Barker paid for a 4-bedroom pad in Cheviot Hills, L.A., a whopping $4 million. He sold it later for nearly $4.5 million in 2017. Also, he bought a $2.8 million worth huge mansion in Calabasas in 2017 – later he rented this property in 2019 at $27,500 a month.
