In 2004, Deontay Wilder studied from Tuscaloosa Central High School. He had a dream of playing football or basketball for Alabama Crimson Tide, but he had to study in Shelton State Community College due to poor grades and his oldest daughter. There he focused on building a career in boxing.

Professional Career
In November 2008 when Deontay was 23 years old, he started his pro boxing journey. He won the first match of his career by knocking out his opponent. He had nine fights in the next year and won each of them in the very first round.
He kept winning and had a winning streak of 25 fights, all fights finishing by the fourth round from 2009 to 2012.
His first major fight happened against Kelvin Price on December 15, 2012 who hadn’t lost any of his 13 previous fights. Deontay knocked Kelvin out in that fight.
Deontay kept winning fights from 2013 to late 2018. He won against famous fighters like Audley Harrison, Chris Arreola, and Jason Gavern.
Deontay knocked out Bermane Stiverne in the first round on November 4, 2017. Then, he defended his title by defeating Luis Ortiz in the 10th round on March 3, 2018. He made a staggering $2 million for that fight, which was his career highest payday yet.
First Tyson Fury Fight
Deontay had a super impressive record of 40 – 0 when he got arranged to fight British/Irish heavyweight Tyson Fury. Three years before that fight, Tyson shocked everyone by defeating Wladimir Klitschko.
